A Stray Light on the Scaffold

A fine rain, and the wind barely moving.
Only the sound of the river and the iron bones of the bridge,
rising slowly from below.

From my usual spot at the roof's edge,
I caught a gap in the fog — a narrow scaffold, and one shadow standing on it.
Unfamiliar rain gear. The way the feet were placed: not someone from this city.

I called out, but the voice came loose in the air before it reached anyone.
Watching from up here, they looked like they might fall,
and something in my chest wouldn't settle —
so I extended the Extel, and put my own feet out into the air first.

It wasn't on today's list.
But I think this counts as one that added itself:
"Draw a stray light, just a little, back to this side."
