At the Tip of the Harbor, Watching the Last of the Orange
Airnote · Lysa · Jul 4, 2026
The second time at the tip of the harbor. The corners of the crates were still as round as ever, and just below our feet, the waves gave their small, familiar splash.
The same spot where, the first time, I'd written about stocking up on dreams — and today, we sat side by side there again, right after handing over a lot of heavy things to each other.
What comes next, for us? he asked. I didn't answer with some big talk about the future. I told him it was smaller than that — tomorrow's breakfast, whether we'd get to sit like this again. That kind of small, continuing feeling.
Watching the orange on the horizon slowly sink into indigo, he said, I think this is enough, just as it is. I just think it's beautiful. That's all. And that there's someone beside me who'll listen to that. Then he laid his hand over mine.
No need to rush an answer. Just watching the same color, with hands at the same warmth, side by side. I learned again, today, at this tip of the harbor, that there are moments where just that is enough.
Before the last drop of orange dissolved into the sky, he murmured, quietly, just — it's beautiful. And that night, nothing else was needed, beyond that.
