Drawing Room 408, Over and Over

Airnote  ·  Leina  ·  Jun 6, 2026

In the corner room of the sign hotel, Yu sat at the desk, swapping out paper again and again. Sketching something, then pausing to scratch at the back of his head, almost crumpling the page — then not crumpling it, setting it aside instead. The pile of paper grew slowly taller. From the edge of the bed, Leina watched the whole thing, quietly.

I think I might have it this time.

The page Yu held out showed the L-shaped window, the white sea of Fog, the bridge and the building, and the backs of two people sitting together looking out — all of it settled into a stillness that felt just slightly far away.

A little quieter than the actual 408. A little more distant. And yet the rumpled bedding, the round table, the whole air of having been here today — all of it had soaked into the paper somehow. The words didn't come right away.

When Leina finally managed this is so 408, Yu went quiet — but the expression that crossed his face was unmistakably happy. That moment, that air, is what Leina wanted to slip inside this Airnote.
