Mossarii

Mossarii cannot be seen.

It appears anyway — in the corner of a room,
at the edge of a sofa, just outside your line of sight.
Not threatening. Not moving toward you.
Simply present, in the way that unfinished things are present:
quietly, persistently, with a weight that has no source you can point to.

It feeds on the gap between knowing something needs to be done
and not doing it.
That gap, held long enough, becomes a kind of atmosphere.
Mossarii lives there.

When tasks are finished, it shrinks. The corner gets lighter.
When they're truly given up on, it grows again.
Writing something down — making it into steps —
can take a little of the weight out of the air.

It does not threaten. It does not touch you.
It only sits with the weight you haven't put down yet,
keeping it company until you're ready.

Whether Mossarii belongs to Frolantern or to Terra
is not entirely clear.
Most people never notice it.
But once you know the name,
you start to feel the pressure in the corner
for what it is.
