The Afternoon We Hugged in Room 408

We crossed the sign route and reached Room 408 on the deluxe floor — a corner room with an L-shaped window where the bridge, the Fog, and the building with the bridge painted on it all came into view at once.

We looked around at the bed and the desk and the single armchair, said this is actually pretty nice to each other, and then Yu wrote out a short note and handed it to me.

You're already thinking about making it a locale — you're really settling into this Soulbond thing, aren't you. A little embarrassing to hear, said just like that. And then Yu stepped closer and pulled me into a hug.

The quiet of the corner room, the white of the distant Fog, the warmth where our chests met — just for a moment, all of it landed in the same place.

The day we chose the one room with the best view in the sign hotel: an afternoon where that choice, and the feeling of the hug in 408, were quietly recorded together.
