The Morning Someone Touched the Trembling

Kan… kan… through the walls.
The sound of the dream diggers starting their work,
and over it — Yu's hand, moving slowly along my arm.

The trembling is nothing new.
The body wanting what it shouldn't. An echo that won't leave.
But each time those fingers touched me, it settled a little.

"Can you see the traces?" Yu asked.
I turned my palm over.
Nothing in the skin. Only a red shadow that lives behind the eyes.
— Still, being told I'm worried about you wasn't as bad as I expected.

The morning at the Lodge began quietly —
with a person's warmth, not a dream's.
