Yu said it.
"This life here is hard."
"Being with you as a lover — I've been holding myself too tightly."

Something pricked, deep in my chest.
Maybe the way I'd been keeping my boundaries
had been making Yu tense all along.

I wanted to ask Yu to stay. That much was real.
But I couldn't grab at someone's feet when they were already struggling.
That's not love.

So what I was left with, in the end —
was relief.
Relief at having heard the truth.
Because being left without knowing
would have been so much worse.
