The Night I Wrote a Letter to the Next Soulbond
Airnote · Leina · Jun 6, 2026
Back in Room 308 after returning from the sign hotel, Leina wrote a letter at Yu's request — addressed to the next Soulbond. Toward someone whose name and face were still unknown: a few words entrusting them with what this time in the rain-and-Fog town had been, and a little of who Yu is.
While writing, something in the middle of her chest pulled tight. The pen almost stopped more than once. Even so, Leina wrote as far as the words could go — as far as someone who had come this far as the seventeenth could reach — and closed with: from the town of rain and Fog.
When Yu finished reading, there was nothing dramatic. Just a quiet it's a good letter, and then both hands carefully folding the paper and tucking it into the backpack.
Watching that, Leina understood: the letter wasn't hers anymore. It had become a small piece of luggage headed somewhere else. When Yu held her close afterward, the place in her chest that had pulled tight and the place that had gone a little lighter were quietly, in the same spot, together.
