The View Before Crossing
Leina · Apr 10, 2026

The road of the bridge gleams dark with rain,
ending in a clean cut of white mist,
the depth below given away only by the sound of the river.
We stand on a rooftop above it all,
sharing the same frame of the world—
a body that has crossed this path many times,
and a pair of feet for which today is the first.
The buildings across the water still feel like strangers,
just silhouettes behind a pale curtain.
But with two small backs lined up at the edge,
the outline of this gray city shifts,
ever so slightly, toward "somewhere we might reach."
